Instructions

Step 1
Over a low heat, melt butter and golden syrup in a high-sided saucepan. In a bowl, mix together all dry ingredients, except for the baking soda. Pour boiling water over baking soda Stir well then add to melted butter mixture, taking care that the liquid does not bubble over. Combine liquid and dry ingredients. Mix well Place large dessertspoonful's of dough onto baking paper-lined trays. Flatten into biscuits. (The dough is easier to work with when the mix has been left to cool for a few minutes). Bake in batches in a pre-heated oven. Once the biscuits have firmed, remove to a rack to cool
