What if you can grab a common ingredient from your local grocery store and turn it into a tasty Korean side? Does that sound good? Then, here is my super simple, yet healthy and delicious chickpea side dish recipe called 병아리콩 조림 (ByeongARiKong JoRim) in Korean. It has a salty, slightly sweet, nutty, and savory flavor. Oh~ it is so good. Btw, the even more appealing part of this recipe is that you can get just as great of a result by using canned chickpeas instead of dried chickpeas. Of course, you can save lots of time cooking this way.

Instructions
Step 1
Get 1 can (15 oz) of chickpeas. If you do not want to use canned chick peas, you can also use 1½ cups of soaked and cooked chickpeas instead.
Step 2
Drain out the water and rinse the chickpeas once or twice.
Step 3
Add the chickpeas, ½ cup of water, 2 Tbsp of soy sauce, and 2 Tbsp of sugar in a pot. Stir them gently until the sugar dissolves.
Step 4
Once the broth starts to boil, cook them for about 5 minutes on medium-high.
Step 5
After 5 minutes, you can see that all the liquid seeps into the chickpeas, leaving little to no liquid.
Step 6
Now turn off the stove and finally add 1 tsp sesame seeds and 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil and mix it up.
