Kafta Meatball Pasta

We love this pasta sauce using kafta meatballs. It’s full of flavour & a perfect midweek meal

Instructions
Step 1
In a large pot, heat oil & add kafta balls and brown on all sides. Kafta should not be cooked through at this stage. Once browned remove from pot and set aside.
Step 2
While pot is still hot, use oil leftover from browning kafta to cook onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until soft then add garlic. Cook through for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add tomato paste and cook out for 2-3 minutes.
Step 4
Add tomatoes, salt, pepper, cumin, bay leaf, herbs & fennel seeds.
Step 5
Return kafta meatballs to pot. Add water & bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 60 minutes until sauce had reduced & thickens.
Step 6
Take pot off heat. Remember to remove bay leaf. Stir through freshly chopped parsley.
Step 7
Serve with your favourite pasta. Or create a pasta bake by adding a white sauce & grated parmesan.
