Tomato vermicelli soup

2 tablespoons butter
1 onion diced
4 tablespoons tomato paste
8 cups chicken broth
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup vermicelli noodles
1 tablespoon spicy red pepper paste
In a large pot melt butter add in onion and sauté for two minutes. Add in tomato paste and sauté an additional two minutes then add chicken broth and seasonings. Bring this up to a boil. While waiting for it to boil place vermicelli noodles into a nonstick skillet and stir them over high heat until they’re lightly toasted. Once the soup is boiling add the vermicelli to the pot and boil about seven minutes. Add red pepper paste if desired and boil an additional two minutes before serving.
