Step 1
Blend tomatoes and onions with some water to form a paste
Step 2
Add lentils, ginger, garlic, onion and tomato paste and salt, red chilli flakes, turmeric powder and fenugreek leaves, some oil and enough water that it covers daal and 1.5 inches above
Step 3
Close the pressure cooker lid and turn heat to medium. Once the whistle starts, set timer for 5mins. After that, release pressure and open the lid.
Step 4
Cook on high heat till desired consistency
Step 5
Make tadka with ghee, corriander, cumin and garam masala. Add some fresh corriander and green chillies too. Cook for a couple minutes and add tadka to daal
Step 6
Mix daal, cover and cook on low heat for another couple mins
Step 7
Serve with rice or roti
