12lasagna noodles
uncooked
4 cupsmozzarella cheese
shredded and divided
½ cupparmesan cheese
shredded and divided
Tomato sauce:
0.5 poundlean ground beef
0.5 poundItalian sausage
0.5onion
diced
2 clovesgarlic
minced
36 ouncespasta sauce
2 tablespoonstomato paste
1 teaspoonItalian seasoning
Cheese mixture:
Instructions
Step 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Cook pasta according to package directions or use oven ready lasagna. Rinse under cold water after boiling and set aside.
Step 2
Brown the beef, sausage, onion and garlic over medium high heat until no pink remains. Drain excess fat
Step 3
Stir in pasta sauce, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for about 5-6 minutes stirring frequently
Step 4
Make Cheese Mixture by combining 1 ½ cups mozzarella, ¼ cup parmesan cheese, ricotta, parsley, and egg.
Step 5
Add 1 cup meat sauce to a 9x13 pan.
Step 6
Top with 3 lasagna noodles. Layer with ⅓ of the Cheese Mixture and 1 cup of meat sauce. Repeat more times.
Step 7
Finish with 3 noodles and top with remaining sauce.
Step 8
Cover with foil and place in oven for 45 minutes
Step 9
Uncover foil, sprinkle with remaining cheese (2 ½ cups mozzarella cheese and ¼ cup parmesan), and bake an additional 15 minutes without foil
Step 10
*Optional* broil 2-3 minutes
Step 11
Let sit for about 15 minutes then serve and enjoy!
