Step 1
For stew: Saute vegetables. Add water with dissolved bouillon cubes and chicken. Bring to a boil. For dumplings, mix egg and water then add shortening, mix well. Add flour and baking soda into shortening mix and form into a dough. On a floured surface, roll out thin. Cut into 1×2-inch pieces. Drop into stew and cover for 15 to 20 minutes. Don't lift lid. pour milk in and reheat. Use flour from rolling board to thicken.
