To mix the Cape Malay Masala Powder
2 tsptumeric
2 tspground coriander
1 tspground cumin
½ tspchili powder
Kashmin chili powder is the best but you can also use cayenne
1stick of cinnamon
3cardamon pods
crushed
salt
to taste
To make Paste
Instructions
Method to make the paste
Step 1
Add oil to a pan or pot and heat on medium tempature
Step 2
Next add finely chopped onion, ginger / garlic (cook until translucent)
Step 3
Then add in in tomatoes chopped plus tomato paste. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on gentle heat.
Step 4
Add masala mix and fry gently, roasting spices for about 1 min
Step 5
Add a tiny bit of water to paste to get a nice, smooth consistency
Step 6
Paste is now ready
