Instructions

Step 1
In a large pot, combine the chicken broth, lemon juice, carrots, onions, water chestnuts, corn, soup base, and white pepper.
Step 2
If cooking Orzo separately, begin now. If cooking Orzo in soup rather than on side, add now - (for more stew-like product). It will try to stick, so it needs more stirring and simmering, and makes less volume.
Step 3
Bring to a boil on high, then simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 4
Add cooked Orzo (If you cooked it separately)
Step 5
Blend the butter and the flour together. Then gradually add it to the soup mixture.
Step 6
Simmer for 10 minutes more, stirring frequently.
Step 7
Meanwhile, beat the egg yolks until light in color. Gradually add some of the hot soup to the egg yolks, stirring constantly.
Step 8
Return the egg mixture to the soup pot and heat through.
Step 9
Add the orzo and chicken. Heat until feeling good about flavor.
Step 10
Ladle hot soup into bowls and add garnish if feeling fancy.
