Instructions
Step 1
The trick to making sure this is quick and easy to to make you make everything in the right order so start by filling the kettle and boiling the water
Step 2
Start by boiling the egg for 6 minutes roughly, but if you noodles are going to take longer than that start with the noodles
Step 3
In boiling water, place half the stock cube and add the noodles and cook until ready to serve and drain the water and set aside
Step 4
To make the ramen sauce, boil water and add all your sauces, soy, sesame oil, teriyaki, char siu, mirin and the remainder of the stock cube (this is very important)
Step 5
Get the sauce to boil and the add the thinly cut meat of choice, I like using the hot pot meat rolls as they cook quickly and you can crack them in to make small bitesize pieces
Step 6
Once the egg is ready, run under cold water so you can handle the egg safely to deshell
Step 7
Once everything is ready, place the noodles in a bowl and poor your ramen soup over the noodles (but do not over fill, fill just over the noodles), followed by the egg sliced in half
Step 8
To finish the ramen, sprinkle spring onion over the top, be generous as it is very flavourful and provides a crunch
NOTES
Step 9
Try and go to an asian supermarket to look for proper noodles and avoid tesco style dry ones as they are often not very tasty I have found and take a lot longer to cook
Step 10
The char siu is to sweeten the broth, so you can replace it with sticky teriyaki, sugar, hoisin and more
Step 11
Oyster sauce can be a great addition if you like that fishy element
Step 12
Add more veg if you want such as bean sprouts
Step 13
Feel free to experiment and change ingredients or add more to your taste. With the meat, you can add ready cooked if you wanted a chicken breast for example, but remember this can't be cooked in the broth usually
