2 x 28 ozWhole peeled San Marzano Tomatoes
cans

2 x 15 oztomato sauce

2 x 6 oztomato paste

1 cupfresh basil

½ cupfresh parsley

1yellow onion
diced

1 headgarlic
minced

1red bell pepper
diced

1green bell pepper
diced

1 Tbspsugar

1 cupred wine

1 cupchicken broth

2 Tbspground oregano

1 tspsalt

1 tspblack pepper

1 tspcrushed red pepper

1 tspfennel seed
optional

1 tspgarlic powder

1 tsponion powder

½ tspitalian seasoning

½ tspcayenne pepper
optional

4 Tbspolive oil

1 tspsmoked paprika
Instructions
Step 1
Add olive oil to a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions and bell peppers until soft, about 5 minutes.
Step 2
Sauté minced garlic for about a minute, being careful not to burn.
Step 3
Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste.
Step 4
Add chicken broth and red wine.
Step 5
Add all the seasonings including basil and parsley.
Step 6
Stir well and bring to a simmer.
Step 7
If you are making vegetarian sauce, you can leave as is. If you would like meat sauce, brown meat of your choice and add to sauce.
Step 8
Simmer on low for 3-4 hours to marry the ingredients.
