Crumbled cake waffles

This is the waffle recipe I turn to when I have leftover cake which usually happens after birthdays. I’ve tried it with numerous types: chocolate cake, funfetti cake, carrot cake, etc. It works. Can add 1-2 T sugar depending on how sweet the cake is. So go ahead, take a slice of your cake of choice and make some waffles. Recipe below. Makes 2 large waffles.

Instructions

Step 1
Heat and grease waffle iron. In a medium mixing bowl crumble cake into small pieces and mix with flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar if using. In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients: butter, milk, egg.
Step 2
Add about 1 cup of batter to waffle iron and cook for 4-5 min until browned on outside.
Step 3
Serve with toppings of choice such as a dab of butter and syrup. Enjoy!
