Baby bella bites

2 steps
Prep:15minCook:12min
There’s a reason why I use mushrooms in so many of my “cozier” recipes. They have an incredible texture and rich, umami flavour that most plants seem to lack. Well, actually they’re not a plant; as my dear friend Timmy likes to remind everyone, they are technically fungi. Regardless, these baby Bella bites are juicy, flavour-filled, and oh so fun to pop in your mouth. They’re a fun twist on the classic party app, but also easy enough to cook alongside your favourite dinner to mix into a salad. You can easily serve them as is, but it’s always more fun to dip—dunking them in the leftover marinade makes them even yummier. note: Oven option: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat, spread the mushrooms over it, and bake on the top rack of the oven at 450°F (230°C) for 12 to 14 minutes, until golden and juicy.

Instructions

Step 1
1. Combine the tamari, pepper, and garlic powder in a medium bowl. Add the mushrooms and use a spatula to toss them until they are evenly coated in the marinade. Let sit for 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
Step 2
2. Transfer the mushrooms to the basket of an air fryer, but save the marinade. Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket every 3 minutes. Serve alongside leftover marinade as a dipping sauce, or as desired.
