Ingredients

Marinade
1 clovegarlic
grated
1 tspginger grated
1 tsponion
grated
1 tspsalt
1 tspsugar
1 tsp5 spice powder
1 tspchicken bouillon powder
1 tspwhite pepper
finely ground
1 tsbpshaoxing wine
1 tspsoy sauce
1 tspsesame oil
1egg white
2 cubesred fermented bean curd

Instructions
Marinade
Step 1
Grate garlic, ginger, and onion and combine with salt, sugar, 5 spice, chicken bouillon powder, white pepper, shaoxing wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg white, and fermented bean curd. Mix thoroughly.
Step 2
Cut chicken thighs into 1-inch pieces and mix with the marinade. Marinate for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight).
Dry Seasoning
Step 3
Toast white and sichuan peppercorns in a pan over medium heat. Then roughly grind them in a mortar and pestle. Combine with salt, paprika, garlic powder, sugar, and 5-spice.
Cooking
Step 4
Preheat your air fryer to 400 F.
Step 5
Coat marinated chicken in potato starch and place on a tray. Spray with cooking spray, flip, and repeat.
Step 6
Place chicken in the air fryer basket with some space between each piece. Cook at 400 F for 10 minutes, flipping at the 5 minute mark.
Step 7
Reduce air fryer temperature to 375 F, add basil leaves and air fry for 3-5 minutes until the chicken is cooked and the basil is crisp.
Step 8
Toss chicken in a bowl with the dry seasoning and enjoy!
