Crumbl-inspired German Chocolate Cake Cookies

These amazing German chocolate cake cookies start with a cake mix cookie base, topped with a delicious homemade coconut pecan frosting! Just like a slice of German chocolate cake in cookie form!

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F
Step 1
In med. sized bowl, combine cake mix, butter, & eggs; stir together to make a thick cookie batter.
Step 2
Scoop (1.5T) dough; roll into balls.
Step 3
Place 12 dough balls onto a lined cookie sheet.
Step 4
Bake (7 to 8 min.) till tops start to split & cookies look done.
Step 5
Remove from oven; cool completely.
Coconut-Pecan Filling
Step 6
In med. sauce pan, beat together egg yolks, evaporated milk, & vanilla until well-combined.
Step 7
Add sugar & butter; heat over the stove top on med.-high heat (15 min.) Stir constantly for last 10 min. or so (once mixture is boiling.)
Step 8
Stir in coconut flakes & chopped pecans.
Step 9
Cool (5 min.) before spreading some on top of each cookie.
Step 10
Cool completely.
Step 11
Melt chocolate chips in sm. bowl in micro. in 30 sec. increments, stirring after each, till smooth.
Step 12
Put melted chocolate in sm. zipper bag. Clip corner of bag & drizzle over top in a zig-zag pattern.
Step 13
Allow chocolate to harden; enjoy!
