Blueberry (all the berries!) smoothie bowl

Brain benefits The bananas give an important boost in energy and potassium which helps brain cells communicate with each other, whilst the berries provide powerful antioxidants that prevent our brain cells from being damaged by free radicals, in a process that’s like biological rusting. Greek yoghurt gives a wonderful boost of protein and vitamins, which is important to make neurotransmitters (which is how your brain cells communicate with each other) and also provides probiotic bacteria, which help to make neurotransmitters, extract nutrients from food and even make vitamins which are important for brain function. The flaxseeds also provide plant-based omega-3 which are anti-inflammatory and help provide a healthy structure to brain cells so they can communicate with each other. On top of all of this goodness, you’re providing your gut bacteria with plenty of gut-healthy fibre that they can feed on, grow and multiply and you promote diversity within your gut bacteria so they can do their job better

Instructions

Step 1
Add all the smoothie bowl ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth
Step 2
Pour the smoothie into a bowl (it should be thick enough that the fruit can rest on top without sinking)
Step 3
Slice the strawberries and banana thinly and place them, the blackberries and blueberries, over the top of the smoothie whatever way you like (get creative with it!)
Step 4
Sprinkle the coconut over the top
Step 5
And enjoy!
