Heat a pan on medium flame, and add oil, mustard seeds and hing.



Step 3

Once the mustard seeds begin to crackle, add finely chopped garlic and fry till the garlic becomes slightly golden brown.

Step 4

Add onions chopped lengthwise, and finely chopped green chillies, and fry well.


Step 5

Once the rawness of the onion goes away, add haldi.

Step 6

Mix well and fry.

Add besan and salt and mix properly.


Step 8

Fry well, taking care that lumps are not formed.
Step 9

Add water (as per desired consistency) and mix.

Step 10

Optional: Add red chilli powder for a hint of spice.

Step 11

Add corriander to garnish, as per taste. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 5-10 mins. Keep stirring in between.

Step 12

After around 10 mins, the pithla is cooked.
Step 13

Serve hot with roti and garlic chutney.
