Furikake Jalfreezi
6 steps
Prep:5minCook:10min
My own recipe: Furikake ups the classic Paneer Jalfreezi flavors several notches. Feel free to double garam masala if you don't have furikake, but then it wouldn't be Furikake Jalfreezi. Comes together super easy. Definitely a luxurious week night meal, with store bought naan. Or get some long grain rice going before you start this. Or if you have a little extra time, make rotis.
We like it very hot. So leave out the chilies and chili powder if your furikake is hot enough for you.
Panch phoron can be found in Indian grocery stores, or you can just combine mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, nigella seeds and fennel seeds in equal measure.

1 tspPanch phoron
1 canRotel
2green chillies
small dice, optional
2 tspgarlic
Grated, or garlic paste
1 Tbspginger paste
1 tspFurikake seasoning
2 tspgaram masala
4 dropsLiquid smoke
2 Tbspketchup
½ tspturmeric powder
½ tspchili powder
optional
1 tspKasuri Methi
2 Tbspcilantro

Instructions
Step 1
In a large bowl, soak paneer cubes in hot water. If your cubes were frozen like mine, put them in freshly boiled water. (Skip this step if you have fresh homemade paneer). Cover, set aside.
Step 2
In a medium sized microwave-safe bowl, throw in the chopped onions and capsicum, drizzle some oil and a sprinkle of salt. Heat in microwave for 4 minutes.
Step 3
Heat some oil (2-3 Tbsp) in a large wok or 12 inch pan on medium heat, add panch phoron, let splutter.
Step 4
Add green chillies, ginger and garlic. Saute until the chillies are slightly browned. Turn up the heat. Working quickly from here on out, add the cooked onions, capsicum and Rotel. Stir to combine.
Step 5
Add furikake, garam masala, turmeric and chili powder, smoke and ketchup. Saute for a couple of minutes. Stir in the drained paneer.
Step 6
Remove from heat, stir in lemon juice. Garnish with kasuri methi (rub it between your hands to break apart before tossing it in) and cilantro.
