Instructions

Cleaning mussels (only do this before cooking)

Step 1
Under running water, scrub two mussels together to get rid of barnacles on the surface.
Step 2
Pull out any hairy beard from the mussels.
Step 3
If there are any open mussels, tap it lightly to see if it closes. If it does (even if it's not closed tightly), it's good. If it stays open and motionless, discard it.
Step 4
Put cleaned mussels in water.

Cooking mussels

Step 5
Pour oil into a pot.
Step 6
Put in the garlic and fry til fragrant.
Step 7
Drain the mussels and put them into the pot.
Step 8
Stir until the mussels are coated with oil and garlic.
Step 9
Pour in a splash of water and stir.
Step 10
Cover the pot for 4-5 minutes, or until all of the mussels are opened.
