Instant Pot Pot Roast Recipe

Artists rendition. It was fine, not super flavorful but it was mad cheap.

Potatoes were over done. I would change pressure time to 45min. Gravy was a little bland. I would skip the water. Add the Cornstarch to 1/4cup of the drippings and add a little Salt and Pepper.

I eyeballed the seasoning, making sure to add plenty of garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, dehydrated chives.

Tough and not enough flavor

I just eyeball the ingredients and usually add some of what I want. In my opinion it lacks flavor if you follow the recipe exactly.

Side dish: roasted garlic smashed potatoes.

I basically doubled some of the spices, cooked at 450 in a Dutch oven for 1 hr 15 minutes, and subbed butter for olive oil. Perfect!

We've made this twice now and the second time I made beef broth from better than bouillon roast beef paste and water and the flavors had so much more depth! A great and easy recipe. Meat just fell apart.

Soft and flavourful beef and gravy, I followed the advice of many which was to skip the carrots and potatoes as they could go mushy. I instead served it with mash and roasted parsnips. I had my hands full as I was cooking this dinner and a chocolate Basque cheesecake at the same time! (recipe on profile, highly recommend)

I used this recipe as a base for times and seasonings. I only used about a cup of broth and added a packet of onion soup seasoning. The roast was tender and delicious, even the kiddos were going back for seconds. Also cooked the roast without the potatoes and carrots and put them in for 5-6 min at the end while I let the roast rest. Thought the whole meal turned out great

As is, this is a good recipe. I deglazed with red wine, added rosemary, thyme, and mushrooms and it was fantastic.

Great recipe, we added thyme and a little rosemary. Skip the searing since it’s so easy to scorch in the instant pot. The potatoes were perfect (do not cut them before putting them in the pot).

Use half the beef broth because it makes plenty of gravy and serve with mashed potatoes instead of baby potatoes in the instant pot

Do not add the potatoes and carrots until you are done cooking the roast. Add them at the end for 7 minutes on high pressure.

Best fork tender roast I've ever had

Delicious and moist.

The beef was good but the vegetables need to be chopped into really large pieces because otherwise they turn to mush.

It was very tasty. I cut the broth to 2 cups. Only complaint is the potatoes being mush. I think I will do them at the end with the carrots next time.

For a 2.6 pound Chuck roast with veggies cooked for 55 min.

It's a great recipe. I threw my own personal spin on it. Next time though, I will add the veggies half way through because having them cook for the entire time turned them to mush.

Had just under 3lbs of frozen solid English roast, added only 3c beef broth (smaller piece of meat and all the cubes I had). Set it for 1hr 50min and that was too long for the potatoes and carrots--mush! I didn't measure any ingredients, just tossed it. So quick and easy! I would do again.
