Instructions

Chicken

Step 1
Trim the chicken thighs of excess fat, if desired. Place in a container with the marinade and marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to two days.

Step 2
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When it begins to shimmer, add the chicken thighs. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Cook until done, about 6 minutes per side.

Remove the thighs to a plate and allow to rest.

Spicy Onions

Step 4
Add the oil to the skillet and swirl to coat the pan, then add the onions and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes, to taste.

Grill the onions to the desired level of doneness, stirring frequently (anywhere from barely translucent to deeply caramelized is fine, it's truly up to you). If the onions begin to stick, add roughly 1–2 teaspoons of water.

Slice the chicken and serve with rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and/or sliced green onion, as desired.
