Ingredients
6 servings

2 CupChickpea
Split

¼ cupOil

3Tomato
finely chopped

3 clovesGinger

3 inchesGarlic
root

1onion
chopped

1 TbspRed Chili Powder

1 tspTurmeric Powder

1 TbspCoriander powder

1 TbspCumin powder

salt
to taste

1 tspCrushed chillies

1 TbspChicken powder

1 tspGaram masala

½ tspTamarind paste
optional you can use 1 tbsp lemon juice too

Water
for boiling

3Green Chilies

ginger
Julienne cut

Coriander
chopped
Instructions
Step 1
Soak the Daal for 1 Hour. Rinse daal with the tap running water until water clears.
Step 2
In a pot boil water , add daal and boil on medium heat under slightly tender. Make sure the daal is 80% cooked and the rest of the 20% will be done during the frying process.
Step 3
In a pan, add ghee and heat it up.
Step 4
Add, onions and cook until translucent.
Step 5
Crushed ginger and garlic and add in , fry until slightly browned
Step 6
Add tomatoes and cook until softened.
Step 7
Now add the spices, red chili powder, crushed chillies, coriander powder, cumin powder , salt, turmeric and chicken powder. And cook until oil separates. Add tamarind paste and mix.
Step 8
Add boiled daal and cook on high heat for 2-3 minutes.
Step 9
Pour water if required and cook for another 6/7 minutes until oil separates.
Step 10
Sprinkle garam masala.
Step 11
Garnish with green chillies, coriander and ginger.
