Instructions

Prepare the Shawarma Spice Mix

Step 1
In a bowl, combine yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, oil, and all spices to create the shawarma spice mix. Set it aside.

Prepare the Chicken

Pat dry the chicken thighs and cut them into thin strips.

Place the chicken in a mixing bowl and toss it in the prepared shawarma spice mix.

Cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours or overnight for enhanced flavor.

Cooking the Chicken

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Take the marinated chicken out of the fridge.

Spread the chicken in a single layer on a lined baking sheet and grill for 45-50 minutes.

For a crispier texture, broil for an additional 5 minutes on the top rack. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.

Assemble the Shawarma Platter

Place pita bread on the side of a serving platter.

Add tzatziki sauce, hummus, pickled turnips, shredded lettuce, pickled red cabbage, gherkins, sliced tomatoes, pickled red onions, and lemon slices to the platter.
