Instructions
Step 1
Chop the onion and add to a pot with olive oil. After a couple of minutes add the white wine, ketchup and tomato paste and mix well. Now add the broth and bring to a simmer.
Step 2
After 5 minutes add the port and whiskey and boil with a cracked lid for 30 minutes for the alcohol to evaporate.
Step 3
Take off the heat and blend with a hand blender. Move back on the heat and add the beer, Worcestershire and Piri Piri. Leave it simmering while you mix the flour with the milk.
Step 4
Add the milk to the pot as well and let it thicken for an additional 10 minutes on low heat. Finally, strain into a bowl and there you go! You can use this for sandwiches or to try and make Francesinha
