Beef Stroganoff with Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Step 1
Peel the potatoes, cut into smaller pieces, boil in salted water until soft, drain, mash, then add cream, butter, and crushed garlic, and mix until smooth.
Step 2
Peel and chop the onion and finely chop the pickled cucumbers.
Step 3
Heat oil (and optionally butter) in a pot, add the beef and onion, and cook until lightly browned.
Step 4
Add water, season with salt and pepper, and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes until the meat is tender.
Step 5
Mix flour with a little water and add to the sauce to thicken it, then add tomato paste, mustard, and chopped pickled cucumbers, and simmer for a few more minutes.
Step 6
Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
Step 7
Serve the beef stroganoff with the garlic mashed potatoes.
