Instructions

Step 1
Cut plantain in half width-wise

Cut both ends of the plantain about 1 inch

Make two slits on each of the two halves of the cut plantain length-wise

Place both halves of the plantain in a little more than half a pan of lukewarm water (add salt to water if needed)

Bring to a boil for about 5 minutes on (HIGH Heat)

Check periodically (Do not let it boil over)

Replace the pan with cold water when plantain halves are no longer submerged in water

Reboil for about 5 minutes (Turn to MEDIUM Heat if bubbles don't let you see the plantain halves

If your plantain halves contain a sticker, then peel it with a fork

Replace water

Remove the plantain peel from the halves with a fork

Place cooked plantain halves on a plate-bowl

Use the fork to mash the cooked plantain halves (add EVOO and pan water if not ripe)

Eat soon or place a microwave cover over the plate
