15 steps

Bami is a Asian/South American dish mostly made in Suriname and Indonesia. It’s tasty and easy to make, you can add different vegetables to the dish but I like to keep it simple with some long beans and grilled chicken!

For the noodles

Step 5
Boil some water and add oil and salt (to taste).
Step 6
Add the noodles when the water comes to a boil.
Step 7
Boil the noodles but make sure that you don’t overcook them! I like them to be not too soft as we’re going to cook them in the next steps.
Step 8
Heat up a wok with some oil and add the minced garlic and chopped onion to the wok.
Step 9
Wait until the onions are translucent and add the chicken stock, white pepper and bami spices. Mix the dish so that the spices can blend thoroughly.
Step 10
Add the tomato puree, soy sauce and ketjap manis. Make sure to mix between every addition.
Step 11
Add the noodles to the the dish and let it simmer for 4 to 5 minutes.

For the long beans

Step 12
Cut the long beans into smaller pieces.
Step 13
Heat some oil in a pan and add the garlic to it.
Step 14
Add the long beans to the oil and fry them. Add a little bit of water shortly afterwards. We don’t want to boil the long beans!
Step 15
Take the drumsticks out of the oven and add to your plate with the noodles and long beans. Your dish is ready to serve!
