Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Lightly coat 2 baking sheets with cooking spray.
Step 3
3. Beat sugars and butter at medium speed of a mixer until well-blended.

4. Add applesauce and egg; beat well.
Step 5
5. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a spatula.

6. Combine flour, oats, soda, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl.

7. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture; beat at low speed just until blended.
Step 8
8. Stir in raisins or chips and vanilla.
Step 9
9. Using 2 teaspoons, drop dough 2” apart onto baking sheets, making a 3x5 row on the two baking sheets.

10. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes on bottom rack and 6 minutes on top. Cool on pan for 2 minutes.

11. Remove cookies with a metal turner and cool on wire racks.
