Moong dal is referred to as skinned and split mung beans. It's comforting, flavourful and super tasty. It is also suitable for batch cooking and best served with rice or naan.

Instructions

Step 1
Peel and chop the onion and chop the tomato.
Step 2
Put the split mung beans, onion, tomato, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric, salt and 700 ml water in a pot.
Step 3
Cover with a lid and cook on slow heat for 45 minutes.
Step 4
In a separate pan, heat vegetable oil on medium heat and add the chilli flakes, garlic paste, cumin seeds and the bay leaf. Cook for a minute.
Step 5
Pour it over the pot of split mung beans and cook for a couple of minutes . Serve it hot and enjoy .
