This is a simple and delicious side dish that can be made in just a few minutes. Traditional recipes don't include parsnip, but they really are delicious with the carrot, as are potato and celeriac.

Instructions
Sesame Seeds
Step 1
Gently toast the sesame seeds in a small frying pan over low heat, shaking the pan from time to time to prevent burning.
Step 2
As soon as you hear the sesame seeds popping, take the pan off the heat and leave them to cool down.
Carrots and Turnips
Step 3
Heat the sesame oil with the dried chilli in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the carrot and parsnip and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Add the soy sauce and mirin and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the liquid has been absorbed by the vegetables.
Step 5
Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top to serve.
