Ingredients

1 poundflank steak
1 tablespoonbrown sugar
3 tablespoonslower-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoonssherry
1 tablespoonoyster sauce
2 teaspoonscornstarch
2 teaspoonssambal oelek
chile paste with garlic
1 tablespoonpeanut oil
3garlic cloves
thinly sliced
1 tablespoonfresh ginger
minced, peeled
1 ½ cupsonion
vertically sliced
1 x 12 ouncebroccoli florets
3 cupsrice
hot, cooked
Instructions
Step 1
Freeze steak 30 minutes.
Step 2
Cut steak across grain into 4-inch-thick strips.
Step 3
Combine brown sugar and next 5 ingredients (through chile paste) in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk.
Step 4
Place a wok or large frying pan over high heat until very hot.
Step 5
Drizzle oil around sides of wok to coat sides and bottom.
Step 6
When oil is very hot, but not smoking, add garlic; stir-fry 30 seconds or until golden.
Step 7
Remove garlic using slotted spoon; drain on paper towels.
Step 8
Add ginger, onion, and broccoli to pan; stir-fry 2 minutes.
Step 9
Add steak; stir-fry 2 minutes or just until no longer pink.
Step 10
Stir in soy sauce mixture.
Step 11
Cook 1 minute or until sauce thickens, stirring constantly.
Step 12
Serve over rice.
Step 13
Top with garlic slices.
