Step 1
This recipe requires a powerful blender - in my case a Vitamix E320 with 64-oz container. Always start with the liquids and leafy greens to get them fully shredded. I then added the additional vegetables - steamed broccoli and raw carrots. If you're looking for more liquid, you can always add any type of tomato. The avocado introduces a very smooth texture. After that, I added the various fruits (both frozen and fresh) as well as walnuts. You can any other nuts from almonds to peanuts to cashews depending on what you have on hand. The final ingredients are the various spices, seeds, and yogurt. While this smoothie might look a little 'green' don't let the appearance fool you. It has a pleasant fruity flavour with a bit of crunchiness from the seeds and nuts. It truly can be a meal replacement since it has all the nutrients you need for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. PS. Don't let the lengthy list of ingredients intimidate you - you can literally toss in anything you have in the fridge that needs to be eaten before it goes bad - thus the name Garburator Smoothie!
