Ingredients
4 servings
¼ cupolive oil
0.5red onion
2 tspgarlic cloves
6 oztomato paste
1 tspkosher salt
2 tspred pepper flakes
use less if you don't want it to be spicy
¼ tspblack pepper
1 cupheavy cream
⅓ cuppasta water
pull from boiled pasta pot
3 cupspasta
use Banza brand if you want protein
1 cupparmesan cheese shredded
2 Tbspfresh basil
use dried basil if you don't have fresh no one cares
1 Tbspbutter
Chicken
optional, we usually add rotisserie chicken or shred some leftover chicken breasts/tenders
Instructions
Step 1
Boil salted water in a pot on high heat. Once bubbling, add pasta
Step 2
Heat up olive oil in sauce pan on medium heat. Once hot, sauté onion
Step 3
Add garlic to saucepan after about 1 minute and sauté
Step 4
Add tomato paste, heavy cream, and spices to the sauce pan. Mix well.
Step 5
Spoon some of the boiling pasta water into the saucepan. If you have leftover chicken (like rotisserie or chicken breast, add it for some extra protein)
Step 6
Strain pasta then add it to the sauce, mix well. Once incorporated, add the parmesan, basil, and butter. Stir for 1-2 minutes until it's all mixed in and the butter is melted.
