Ingredients: 250gms split pigeon peas/ toor dal; 1.2 litres water; ½ tsp turmeric powder; 3 tbsp vegetable oil; 1 heaped tsp mustard seeds; ½ tsp cumin seeds; 4 cloves; ½" cinnamon stick; 2 mild dried red chillies; 10 curry leaves; ½ tsp asafoetida; 2 green chilli slit lengthwise; ½ tsp mild chilli powder; 2 tbsp jaggery or sugar; 2 ½ tsp tamarind paste; Salt to taste; 250mls water; Freshly chopped coriander

So many exciting videos out over the last few weeks on Food Tube! This has got to be an all time favourite for most of us a spiced lentil curry with some fantastic spices including mustard seeds, chilli, curry leaves & tamarind. Just the way my mum would cook it for us. Perfect topped over plain rice with pickle and papad. Try it and promise you’ll be hooked!
