Instructions
Boil the eggs,
Step 1
Place the a pot over high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil.
Step 2
Once the water is boiling, gently lower the eggs into the boiling water using a spoon or a wire basket. Be careful not to drop them in to avoid cracking the shells.
Step 3
Boil the eggs for 7 minutes for a jammy yolk. If you prefer them firmer, aim for 11-12 minutes.
Step 4
Remove the eggs from the boiling water and place them in a bowl of ice water. This will stop the cooking process and help cool the eggs.
Step 5
Carefully peel the eggs and set them aside.
Making the sauce,
Step 6
In a skillet, melt your butter over medium heat. Let it melt, ensuring it doesn't brown or burn.
Step 7
Once the butter is melted and starts to sizzle, add the minced garlic to the pan. Sauté the garlic in the butter for about 1-2 minutes, or until it becomes fragrant and slightly softened. Be careful not to overcook or brown the garlic, as this can make it bitter.
Step 8
Add in the soy sauce, rice syrup (or honey), brown sugar, rice vinegar and black pepper.
Step 9
Allow the sauce to simmer for 3-4 minutes or until it thickens. The sauce will further thicken once it cools.
Step 10
Add in your eggs and toss them well in the sauce.
Step 11
Garnish with sesame seeds and enjoy over white rice!
