Taco bell taco style tacos

I love Taco bell Tacos and searched ways to duplicate it.
Using the mix is easiest, but you could probably use other taco seasoning, but my goal was to duplicate it as close as possible. This is super close. You probably won't tell any difference if you follow the recipe. If you use fatter or leaner (not advisable) meat you will have to play around.
We ate a few tacos unfortunately before I measured it out and it makes a lot of tacos if you use the exact amount in each taco. Some like double meat though, so that will cut down the servings. You should have plenty to freeze some meat for next time.

Step 1
Do NOT BROWN the meat. You do not want any crispys in it, you want it smooth.
Step 2
Boil the hamburger in enough water to keep it covered, but not too much that you will have to cook it down for hours. Use a hand immersion blender and blend it until it's all little crumbles, use more water if needed. Don't over blend as it will turn to mush. It's easy to see with a immersion blender, but some just dump it in a blender, but that's hard to see and its a lot of mess.
Step 3
When that's done, add the oats and cocoa and coloring with the six packets of mix. The instructions say one packet for each lb, but it's not enough. I had tacos I bought and compared the meat side to side.
Step 4
DO not drain fat. This is why you might need to adjust for different meat. You are aiming for 20% fat.
Step 5
Cook on low until its a soft paste and the excess water is gone.
Step 6
Put 6.5 tsp in each heated 6 inch taco shell with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and finely shredded medium cheddar. Sour cream on top.
