Instructions
Step 1
Cook lentils for 25 mins

Cook pearl barley for 20 mins

Grease loaf tin
Step 4
Chop onion, mushrooms and grate carrot
Step 5
Heat 25g butter and fry onion until softened, then add the mushrooms, once they are soft add the carrot.
Step 6
Make 600ml stock and add the marmite and treacle. Add 400ml to the pan.
Step 7
Add the oats, salt, pepper, nutmeg and mace and stir while gently heating.
Step 8
Drain lentils and pearl barley and add to pan. Allow stock to reduce down, stirring gently.
Step 9
Add 25g butter and remaining stock. Turn up heat to medium and cook until stock has reduced. Taste and add more seasoning if needed.
Step 10
Spoon mix into loaf tin and bake 20-30 mins at 180 C
