Step 1
Cut vegetables.

Soak rice for at least 30 minutes. More soaking time = less cooking time.

Heat up the oil. Add the green chilli, cloves, cinnamon and onion. Fry.

Once the green chilli is cooked and the onions are shrinking, add the tomato, salt, turmeric and ginger-garlic paste. Mix well.

When the tomato is cooking and the vegetables are aromatic, add the potatoes. Mix for 3 minutes. Convert with a lid until the potatoes are no more than 50% cooked. If the potatoes are hard, add a little bit of water.

Add the carrots and capsicums. Stir and cover for 2 minutes.

Add the yogurt. Stir and cover for 3-4 minutes. The gravy shouldn't be too liquidy.

Boil water for rice. Add salt.

Cook the rice until is it 2/3 cooked. Drain the rice.

Layer the rice and vegetables. Cover and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes (until steam comes out when the lid is opened).
