Instructions
Step 1
The night before, boil cabbage I'm water with some vinegar.
Step 2
As leaves soften, pull them off the head and stack in a dish. Let cool over night at room temperature, covered.
Step 3
In a skillet, melt butter and stir in diced onions. sautee until browned.
Step 4
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, sautéed onions, cooked rice, hot tap water, salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5
Roll 1-2 tablespoons of mixture per leaf. Set aside.
Step 6
Dot the bottom of a roasting pan with butter and cover the sides and bottom with green cooked cabbage leaves. Arrange the cabbage rolls and cover with another layer of cabbage leaves.
Step 7
Pour tomato soup and water mixture over the cabbage rolls.
Step 8
Bake uncovered, in 400F preheated oven until the tops of the leaves are browned.
Step 9
Cover loosely with foil and reduce heat to 325F. Bake for 2.5-3hr.
