Instructions
Step 1
Wash lentils until the water is clear. It takes over 5 rinses. Make sure the water is clear and has no froth.

Step 2
Put the lentils in a large pot and add the diced potato, onions and carrot. Add about 10 cups of water (making sure that the lentils are completely covered too).

Step 3
Boil for 20-30 minutes until the lentils are completely softened.
Step 4
Turn off the heat. Let the soup rest for 5 minutes and remove any excess water if there is any.
Step 5
Blend until the soup is at the creamy consistency you desire (immersion blender works best).
Step 6
Add the spices and bring back to a boil. Then simmer on low for 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and squeeze lemon juice over the dish before eating.
