Instructions

Step 1
Cut the onions into small pieces & crush the garlic
Step 2
Heat a large pot on the stove over medium heat
Step 3
Once hot, add the oil and swirl to coat the whole bottom of the pot
Step 4
Add the onions and saute for 3-5 minutes (or until the onions are turning translucent)
Step 5
Add the salt and stir to combine
Step 6
Add the garlic and saute for approximately 30 seconds (or until aromatic)
Step 7
Add the beef/pork and cook it until there are no more visible pink spots (approximately 7-8 minutes)
Step 8
Add the chili, cumin, oregano, paprika, turmeric, black pepper, and stir to combine and evenly coat the meat
Step 9
Saute for 2 minutes to toast the spices a bit more
Step 10
Add in the tomato paste, diced tomatoes with juices, corn, water, beef broth cubes, and kidney beans. Stir to combine and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer
Step 11
Simmer for 1 1/2 hours, or until the chili has thickened a bit
Step 12
During the last 30 minutes, add in the Tabasco and/or some ground cayenne pepper (in case you prefer that more) to taste
Step 13
Serve with baguette or a slice of bread
