One Pot Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta

Easy to make Loved it!

It's basically Alfredo with pesto added but a huge hit with the family. I added mushrooms and broccoli and even the kids asked for seconds!

It's amazing, I shouldn't have put more water but next time I'll just read the recipe properly😅. But it's really good🤭

Skipped the parmesan and added chopped up cherry tomatoes at the very end post spinach for some colour and freshness Delicious

So easy, creamy comfort food. I did tweak it a bit. As others have said, I needed more broth to cook the penne in, I used 2 cups. I didn't have regular cream cheese but had onion and chives cream cheese spread, and I used heavy cream, I also doubled the basil, spinach, and dried tomatoes. My family really liked it, and I'm thinking of other things to substitute or add, like shrimp or mushrooms. Mmmm, good!

Very savoury and creamy. I used whole wheat macaroni instead of penne, chicken thighs instead of breasts, frozen kale instead of spinach, and sundried tomato pesto instead of regular basil pesto. All just things I had on hand. Was very easy to make and nice that it's a one pot meal, less dishes!

We used Rotisserie chicken and a bit extra spinach and it turned out really good.

Super delicious. However, the large amount of pasta to bacon and broccoli ratio is way off. You don't necessarily have to double the bacon and broccoli but just throw a little extra in there.

I used chickpea pasta to cut down on carbs, but flavor profiles were rich. Pesto is now going in my pasta on a regular basis.

First cooked pasta for 6- 8 minutes before putting it all together and let pasta cook in sauce for rest of cooking till soft.

Simple and delicious. 2c. Of spinach instead of 3. Only use 2lb butter so chicken can brown quicker and if using whole wheat pene pasta add an extra 1/2c. Broth and cook additional 4min

This will be part of my rotation; however, I threw some onions in before the garlic and then salt at the end - quite a bit, actually. This recipe is veggie friendly; next time, I'll probably add peppers for more color and flavor.

I followed the recipe up until the cheese. I only swapped the cheese from Parmesan to Romano. It's just a personal preference (not a fan of Parmesan and rarely have it at home). I did not make any other alterations. Perhaps in the future to change it up I'll add mushrooms; however sticking to this recipe is plenty good. It's definitely going to become a go to if I have the chicken and pesto handy.

It was relatively easy to cook, the hard part is to get the pasta al dente as it's not the usual way to cook pasta. But once you get that bit sorted, it's a nice dish.

I thought the seasonings were too sparse, so I seasoned the chicken before browning it. I recommend adding some fresh basil on top as well :) Overall, it turned out delicious!

Great recipe, easy to make, restaurant quality pasta. I added a little more pasta, milk, cream cheese and Parmesan cheese to make it creamier. If you have kids, it's hit or miss. My 3 year old liked it but my 9 and 7 year old did not.

This was good. Very creamy/cheesey. I doubled the pasta and all of the sauce/seasoning ingredients so we have leftovers. Could easily add other veggies to this. I dumped a bunch of chili flakes on this - if you don't like heat, then I would encourage you to add other types of seasoning, or this would be bland.

Doubled the recipe. Wouldn’t cook the chicken as long initially (sear). Added mushrooms. Was very good.

Turned out well. Substituted 1/2 cup of the milk with an extra 1/2 cup of broth and sour cream for the cream cheese based on what I had on hand. Added the optional sun dried tomatoes and kale/spinach mix. Be sure to season the chicken pieces before you cook them and just lightly sear them so they don't get dried out during the rest of the cook.

This was really flavorful, delicious, and easy! I doubled the recipe for our family of seven. I have two picky eaters, one a teenager and one a toddler, and they both enjoyed this! The only change I made was to lightly salt and pepper the chicken. Adding this to my regular rotation!

Really good decide based on reviews to cooked the pasta separately which was a good as it allowed for it to be mostly cooked before adding to the chicken sauce mixture. I added onion to the recipe as well so I fried the onion and garlic first then added the chicken to cook. Also had a small amount of cheddar cheese. Really good recipe would make again 100% super easy

I was out of a few ingredients, read dairy products and chicken, so using a few substitutions I made this deliciousness. I don't know if it even counts as the same dish, but it was pretty simple to work out in the end and I still ended up with a creamy delicious dish! I also left out the spice since it irritates my husband's stomach. Subbing hummus for the cream cheese works well surprisingly.

I seasoned chicken pieces before cooking. Added some chilli flakes at the same time as garlic to give a bit of a kick. Cook in a large based pan/deep frying pan. This way, there's enough liquid to cook pasta. I cooked pasta for 10 minutes.

This is definitely going into rotation even if it's once a month! I saw someone else suggest adding the milk when you put the broth to cook the pasta which I did because the broth isn't enough liquid. I used almond milk because that's what I had on hand and it didn't alter the flavor too much.

I had sun dried tomatoes, but they were in big pieces. I'll chop them up next time to make them smaller to get a better distribution of sun-dried tomato flavor. All in all, very yummy

Very good! Pretty quick and easy. I would say to put the milk in at the beginning to have more volume to boil the pasta in. And we had cherry tomatoes on hand so charred those and put them in instead of the sundried.

Pasta needed more liquid for me to get tender but then extra liquid meant more time needed to let the sauce reduce. Maybe try removing chicken prior to adding pasta and broth to allow pasta to submerge (maybe deglaze with broth then add pasta). I'll have to make it again to see if it comes out better.

This is sooooo soooo good. I wish I didn’t have to share it with the kids! I used gluten free penne and we made a double batch, so we made the chicken, sauce, and the noodles separately before combining. It was fresh and energizing. On a side note, the kids didn’t care for the spinach and tomatoes, but me and my husband loved it.

3 cups of spinach seemed like it's be too much, so I stopped with 1.5 cups and it was a nice balance.

We seasoned the chicken with salt, pepper, onion powder, and my homemade cajun seasoning before cooking. We had to add 5 minutes and a cup of water beyond what the recipe calls for to get the pasta cooked. And no, it's not the cheapness of the pasta because I used Molisana penne ziti. That's more of a higher end on the scale for pasta. We used extra parmesan cheese. The taste was superb. My old man liked it all, but I thought the chicken was a bit dry. We used baby spinach (it's what we had), but I can't eat tomatoes, so no sun dried tomatoes. The dish was moist because of the sauce. The chicken was dry.

It tastes as good as it looks! I add to add some more salt and let it cool down in order for the sauce to thicken

I don't have a photo because we ate it so fast but I followed the directions exactly and it turned out amazing. Just needed extra simmer time to thicken up. My stepmom said it was as good as a restaurant, which is high praise for me as a beginner. Delicious, and I'll definitely make it again!

Changed most of this recipe based on comments. Ended up cooking the pasta separately in a pan. Cooked the chicken in butter and added garlic, then wilted spinach in the same pan. Removed all once cooked and added half a mushroom stock cube, some water, 2 tbsp of pesto, and 2 tbsp of cream cheese. Cooked until reduced and thickened slightly then added the chicken and spinach back in. Then mixed in the drained pasta. This was really nice and flavourful.

IT GOES HARD! I bought 1.5lbs of cubed chicken so I adjusted the recipe accordingly (6 servings). I used Barilla Protein+ penne, Mezzetta basil pesto and Bella Sun Luci sun-dried tomatoes. Not a fan of the dried tomatoes so I won't use next time. Edit: I made this again, but this time instead of adding cream cheese, I got Creamy Basil Pesto by Sprouts and added a couple extra tbsp or so. I also used cherry tomatoes instead of sun dried but I put them in too early while the pasta was cooking and they dissolved lol. Very yum though!

We've made this one a couple of times and it's delicious every time.

Sometimes, the sacrifices involved in making a dish a "1 pot meal" isn't worth the added convenience. The sauce is bland even with the added sun dried tomatoes and spinach. It's impossible not to overcook the chicken while cooking the pasta, and it's almost as impossible to avoid obliterating the pasta while melting in the other ingredients. Overall, even making changes to properly cook the individual ingredients probably wouldn't combine into something I'd bother making again.

Made a few adjustments and it turned out GREAT! I did 4 cups broth to boil the pasta in and only 1 cup milk (I doubled the whole recipe). I scooped some liquid out once pasta cooked but had to make a cornstarch slurry to thicken it up a bit. It turned out really yummy and flavorful! Don’t skip the sun dried tomatoes!

GET READY FOR THE BEST ONE-POT OF YOUR LIFE. I'm addicted to one pot recipes. I've tried probably 20 over the past year from tiktok and this app, but my oh my, let me tell ya... This is the top 2! We come back to this meal over and over again, sometimes even back to back weeks. It's easy, it's sooooo creamy, the chicken stock pasta is literally to die without any of the other ingredients. I make this for birthday parties, family gatherings, potlucks. This is one of my favorite meals I make. I'd say of the best one-pot meals ever 9/10, from what I expected 16/10. Delicious!

I used a whole carton of broth

I did the recipe exactly as instructed with the ingredients of 8 servings. I used a skillet at first and transfered it over to a deeper pot. Everything came out perfectly and my family loved it.

I added sliced button mushrooms, halved cherry tomatoes and fresh baby spinach. It tasted sensational. It’s the first time I’ve ever cooked pasta in the pot with chicken like this. It went a little stodgy but it was super creamy without being sickly. I did add a little more liquid to the stock.

It was good, definitely have extra chicken stock on hand for this recipe unless if you follow measurements exactly 😂 I wouldn’t say that it was the most amazing recipe on earth but it was pretty good and simmering the chicken in the broth made it juicer than I’ve ever cooked chicken before (as a college student). Overall, good recipe, will taste good, easy to make and minor cleanup.

Needs seasoning on chicken before browning!! Other then that it was easy and quick to make.

I annoyingly forgot the spinach but I also added 4 x rashers of middle bacon (chopped) and it was just delicious. Also, I did par boil the pasta as last time I didn't feel like it quite cooked the pasta using just the broth as well as it did this time. The whole family loved it!

This was good, but not something I’d make on a regular basis. At high altitude and needed about 2 cups of broth.

This was really good. I had to add a lot more chicken stock than what it called for, but otherwise, I followed the instructions.

I cut back on the spinach and added walnuts. Along with using low fat and vegan cream cheese, unsalted chicken broth. Really very good. Will be making again.

Made it with gluten free pasta and it worked well. Mozzarella instead of cream cheese and a dash of cream instead of milk. Also half chicken and half mushrooms. Quick and easy and really delicious.

Added a bit extra stock for flavour and this was perfect. Loved the addition of the sun dried tomatoes

Absolutely delicious 😋 Made this for my Mum and Brother for a filling Saturday night meal. It went down very well! I would 100% recommend this recipe, especially if you love your one pan, big plate full of creamy pasta kinda recipes.

I made my pasta separately then incorporated it into the rest. (I did add the spinach and sun dried tomatoes to the chicken for a few mins before i added the cheeses and pasta). I also added some Cajun spices. Very good!

I added more chicken broth because it did look sketch when cooking the noodles and a bit more cheese with the sun dried tomatoes but it turned out well

Love how easy this one is - but I do find that the pasta is never Al Dente even when I have tried more broth / longer time

Wicked good. Made a few tweaks and this will 100% be a regular in my house. Used half and half instead of milk. Jalapeño cream cheese instead of normal. No parm. Extra pesto Needed more chicken broth to cook the pasta than what the recipe called for, but it was really good. Definitely add the spinach and sun dried tomatoes.

I would add more sundried toms

I’ve made this recipe a few times and it is a winner. BUT, I can’t fathom what kind of pasta the chef was using that gets tender in the pot in 8 minutes. Prepare for it to take nearly double that.

Amazing! Used 3 chicken breast instead of one, so I ended up doubling everthing. Made without spinach. Will definitely be adding to my recipe list.

Could also use broccoli instead of spinach.

Great recipe. I had to add some extra water to the chicken broth while the pasta was cooking. Otherwise, the measurements were pretty accurate.

Delicious recipe! Easy to follow. Needed about a cup more of chicken broth than recommended. Do recommend red pepper to add flavor.

Personally I didn’t have any issues making sure the pasta was cooked. My one issue is there is a lot of waste with sun dried tomatoes and pesto; you have to have another recipe to use them in because you will have some leftover based on the measurement of the ingredients.

This recipe was simple and down right delicious. Only thing I did different was boil my pasta a little beforehand. 8 year old ate it and wanted more.

Tried doing broccoli instead of spinach. It’s okay, but not one I’ll repeat.

Sub goat cheese for cream cheese, and season chicken before cooking. I used gluten free pasta, and followed the instructions in the recipe, only cutting down pasta cook time to around 6 minutes. Also, because I wasn't sure how much broth to use with the gluten free pasta, I just added bone broth until the pasta and chicken were covered (when I got to that step).

Was a little bit bland so added salt to taste and a bit of garlic salt. We really loved this dish.

My wife, bless her, tends to eat like a bird. She could not stop going back for more. I doubled the recipe which made for great leftovers later.

Don’t be afraid to use a little corn starch in the broth to help it thicken up.

Yum! I had to cook the pasta a little longer to get it tender, but overall a great recipe.

This was so good! I shred the chicken and dice up the spinach and tomato’s just so my kids will eat it (they’re weird about chunks of stuff) and they all loved it. I suggest precooking the noodles if you don’t like them Al Dente, they were a little too firm for my taste!

It's alright, pretty bland. It might be because we didn't use tomato, or red pepper though. Not much of a problem as I tend to like bland things but not everyone does.

Simple recipe, few required ingredients. Very fast. I think it needs a salad or something healthier to balance out the carbs.

Also delicious without the pesto, I split the recipe into with and without, because my kids can't eat cashews (in the pesto I had)

Make sure you put the lid on! I forgot for the first 5min of that step. But it was okay I Just put in a little more chicken stock and and cooked it a bit longer. This turned out so delicious and the kids loved it. We did it without the sun dried tomatoes.

Too much basil pesto, it overpowered the whole dish. Other than that would try again with less.

It was good. I cooked the noodles separately because I was using gluten free noodles and I didn't think they'd cook in such little liquid.

I add more pepper and cut down on the cheese.

I had bowtie pasta and used that instead. Still came out great and the kids loved it!

I made this with barilla gluten free pasta, just needed to cook about 2 min longer and add a tiny bit more stock. I also just used a rotisserie and added it at the end instead which made this super easy. Delicious but rich.

It was easier than i thought a d so tasty. I made more than the actual amount on the recipe and still no left overs. Will be adding to my rotation.

Honestly such an easy dish to make. We made ours with Lacto free cream cheese, milk and switched out parmesan for lacto.free cheddar and was so delicious!

I cooked this in my Ninja and was doubting the water amount but after using the venting lid while doing the pasta step found that thr extra water i added was too much! It didn't take much to thicken up which was a bonus. I am going to try sun dried tomato and fresh tomatoes next time. Could also easily be converted to a tomato base with tomato chutney and paste or pesto which i might try to as while the kids and I liked it, the other half didn't so much.

No chicken. Added and started with onion and butter. Added Italian seasoning. So good!! Kids loved it too.

The chicken is bland and the food is not a great texture and is too salty.

I made my own pesto to put in it and only did the sun dried tomatoes if someone asked for it. Both my kids (2m and 10f) enjoyed it. I also doubled the recipe so we had a good amount of left overs.

Intense but tasty! I added some whole cherry toms, broccoli (including stem chopped smallish), sun dried toms and spinach. Was pretty quick and easy 👌 Microwaved the broccoli separately and added at the end.

If you're under the influence of special natural plants and their magical vapors, anticipate an increased preparation time. Quick and tasty food that's inexpensive.

A couple of little changes for the children. Dried Tom's to cherry Tom's Red pepper to a red bell pepper I didn't time how long it took but over 30 mins definitely. They all loved it and said they want it again.

Very flavorful! The noodles turned out a little undercooked because the chicken broth boiled away too soon, but I'm not sure if the problem was me or the recipe. Just keep an eye on the noodles and you'll be good. I also didn't add the spinach or tomatoes because my family are picky eaters but it still turned out good.

Kept on the burner a little longer than required to thicken it up slightly. I have enough stuff to make a second batch and there’s enough from this for leftovers

Definitely takes longer than 35 minutes but it is well worth it! My 13 year old made this. It was easy to follow, only used one pan, and made a lot of food!! All the kids loved it. Husband rated it an 8.5/10. Things we changed: We used gluten free penne noodles, did not compromise the flavor or texture. Added extra pesto, because only a little would have been left in the jar. We used the optional spinach and sun dried tomatoes - made it wonderful! I forgot to buy Parmesan cheese so we didn’t add any. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Perfect weeknight dinner for when you do not feel like a ton of dishes. I personally did not want to cook diced chicken breast that long for fear of it drying out, so I removed it from the pan shortly after adding onion and garlic. Then continued on with the recipe using the same pan. I substituted broccoli for the spinach for texture, which we all loved. I am sure this isn't the last time my family will request this simple, creamy, rich, and delicious pasta dish!

This is really good if you love pesto. Not a fan of sun dried tomatoes so I tossed in some chopped grape tomatoes instead.

This turned out amazing! I used my electric skillet for the whole thing. Added a smidge more of everything than the recipe calls for and added some mozzarella (because I ran out of parmesan) and I ended up with close to 6 portions. In my opinion, the spinach and tomatoes are not optional! The acid from the sun dried tomatoes helps balance the heaviness of the pasta and cheesy sauce.

Made this for dinner tonight. We loved it. The 3 year olds only ate the chicken and a few noodles but thats saying a lot for my picky boys! Daughter said more spinach next time and maybe some broccoli. We will definitely have this again! Make sure you season the chicken. I feel like this might be a little bland without.

This was so amazing! Hubby says his favorite pasta dish yet and I've made a lot. The red pepper flakes really add to it. I didn't have cream cheese so used sour cream. Made it again with the cream cheese and it really makes the difference. Don't like sun dried so I used regular tomatoes. Will make this again! Ps pasta cooks perfectly

Very tasty and easy to make. I wasn't able to get my chicken to brown but that didn't matter to the flavour. I used frozen spinach instead of fresh, along with the sundried tomatoes. I did add a little more milk bear the end though as I wanted the sauce a little thinner. It's easy to adjust to your preferences.

This is such an easy, crazy flavorful dinner that is simple to double and make a ton of. This is definitely going in my regular rotation! I substituted romano cheese instead of parmesan and it was still great!
